brinQ penS: Um Tabuleiro de Ideias para Despertar a Educação Ambiental na Química

The growing concern with sustainability has driven increased reflection on environmental preservation. Critical Environmental Education, with its transdisciplinary approach, offers a holistic framework for understanding the relationship between society and the environment, and can be effectively integrated into high school Chemistry instruction. This study aimed to develop a board game as a didactic tool to teach Chemistry in a contextualized manner, incorporating environmental themes. The instructional sequence consisted of three stages: reading scientific articles, conducting a discussion-based class, and implementing the board game “brinQ penS.” The game included question cards and problem scenarios related to environmental Chemistry, organized by difficulty level to allow adaptation across different student groups. Applied in a 3rd-year high school class, the game facilitated content review, enhanced student engagement, and supported the development of critical thinking and decision-making skills. Pre- and post-activity assessments indicated improvements in chemical knowledge and increased environmental awareness among students.
