Resumo

The use of technological applications in teaching is an innovation and is a challenge for teachers who
wish to use this approach in the classroom, creating their own application. This work uses a game for
smartphones and tablets as a Chemistry teaching methodology to help build knowledge. The “Classify
the Compound” application was adapted from a board game and implemented using a free, simple and
intuitive online platform, MIT App Inventor, which allows you to create games even without having
knowledge of computer programming. The application was evaluated by students from a public high
school, after using it in class. The application served as a facilitating and alternative instrument in the
teaching-learning process, contributing to the construction of learning in a more dynamic, attractive and
participatory way. The results were categorized and quantified, demonstrating the importance of applying
this technology in teaching Chemistry, allowing the construction of knowledge.
