Resumo

The objective of the study was the scientometric analysis of Eugenia dysenterica to measure and quantify
its scientific evolution from 1993 to 2022. The scientific articles were selected on the Web of Science
Core Collection platform and organized into five subgroups according to the types of publication. The
main studies involving E. dysenterica were: botanical characterization, identification and control of
pathogenic microorganisms, phenology, antimicrobial activity, chemical composition, laxative effect,
antioxidant, antiviral, antidiarrheal, gastroprotective, hypoglycemic activity, obesity prevention, healing,
neuroprotective action, parasitological and insecticidal activity. Brazil was the country with the highest
number of publications. The journals with the highest number of publications were the Revista Brasileira
de Fruticultura, Food Research International and Journal of The Brazilian Chemical Society. Keyword
cerrado had the highest number of occurrences, followed by Myrtaceae, Eugenia dysenterica, Brazil,
conservation and cagaita. Institutes that most collaborated with these publications were the Federal
University of Goiás and University of Brasília. Therefore, the present work brings important information
about the evolution of the scientific knowledge of E. dysenterica and can be a bibliographical reference
to aid the next scientific researches related to this species. This work represents the first in the literature
on scientometric analysis of E. dysenterica.
