Resumo

This article aims to report the results of an experimental research activity developed during a semester
in which the discipline of Physical-Chemistry II was selected in a degree course in Chemistry. Students
carried out the preparation of polymeric membranes using polyetherimide (PEI) as the agent of forming
membranes, N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) as the solvent and polyethylene glycol (PEG-200) and
dimethylformamide (DMF) as the porosity-forming agents. The methodology adopted in this activity
consisted of six steps: (1) proposal of the experiment, (2) identification of the necessary materials,
(3) elaboration of the membrane compositions, (4) design of the experimentation, (5) analyzes and tests
of the produced membranes, (6) finalization with discussion of the results obtained. The didactic proposal
proved to be essential for active learning by students as well as remembering fundamental concepts of
chemistry in laboratory experimentation in higher education.
