Resumo

The genus Mimosa is one of the most representative within the Fabaceae family, comprising over 400 species, 379 of which have been identified in Brazil. Owing to its wide distribution across the country, our study aimed to conduct a systematic review of the chemical constituents isolated from Mimosa species native to Brazil. The search was carried out in the Scielo, Web of Science, and Scopus databases, considering publications with no start date limit up to August 2025, in Portuguese or English. An initial screening yielded 96 records, of which 11 met the inclusion criteria and were incorporated into our review. The analysis revealed that, to date, only seven of the 379 Mimosa species occurring in Brazil have been the subject of phytochemical studies. From these species, 68 secondary metabolites were isolated and structurally elucidated, belonging mainly to the classes of flavonoids, steroids, and phenolic acids.
