In today’s society, one can observe a strong dominance of the consumer market, which has altered
people’s desires and aesthetic preferences, leading to a shift in beauty standards. This change has fueled
an unrelenting pursuit of the “perfect body”. As part of this quest, individuals increasingly turn to potent
substances, with Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) being among the most widely consumed. However,
the use of these substances has extended beyond bodybuilding and Olympic sports centers to other segments
of the global community. Currently, a growing number of young people embrace such consumption. To
address this issue, our study aims to discuss the use of AAS and conduct a survey on the knowledge and
usage of these substances among young students in the Jiquiriçá valley. We administered a semi-structured
questionnaire with 33 questions to gather relevant data. The results revealed that the school system plays
a limited role in educating students about AAS, with 49.56% of students having no exposure to the topic
in school. Consequently, we conclude that state intervention is necessary.
