Resumo

Due to corrosion, it is estimated that approximately one-third of steel is lost annually, resulting in a global
economic impact equivalent to approximately 3% of GDP. An ecologically accepted approach to dealing
with this issue is the use of natural inhibitors, whose effectiveness can reach an impressive 95%. Therefore,
due to the importance of this topic, this study aimed to carry out a bibliometric analysis of scientific
production related to green corrosion inhibitors. The research was conducted using the Web of Science
database, with the search terms “inhibitors and green and corrosion”. The data obtained was analyzed
using the VOSviewer software, which synthesizes information into bibliometric networks, allowing the
identification of the most cited documents, prominent authors, the main keywords used, in addition to the
countries and institutions most active in research. The search for articles on Web of Science resulted in
2868 scientific documents, covering the period from 1981 to 2024. China is the country that produces the
most research on green corrosion inhibitors and has the publications best related to other nations. From
the results, some research gaps were highlighted, so this work serves as guidance on the proposed topic.
