Resumo

Many innovations for sustainability arise from university technologies that need to be accelerated to
the market by transferring to industry or by creation of startups. Hereon, it is described the technology
acceleration program Escale-se Summit carried out by ESCALAB in collaboration with Qui+S. The
Summit program was based in the five sustainability challenges defined by the program Qui+S. The
Summit program mapped 70 technologies from all over Brazil, from which 10 were selected based on
criteria such as innovation degree, maturity, market/business potential and team. The program was divided
into three main phases: Diagnostics (4 months) focusing on development of business model, Acceleration
(4 months) to validate the business model, market information, as well as defining potential clients and
partners, and in the final stage (Scaling up and proof of concept – 6 months), R$100,000.00 were invested
in two of the technologies. Participants rated the methodology 4.5 out of 5, noting how it aided in the
development of their business models for their technology. Additionally, 94% of participants stated that
the program had a “significant” influence on their entrepreneurial outlook. These indicators demonstrate
that programs like this are viable alternatives for developing entrepreneurs and consequently businesses
based on technology.
