Resumo

Currently the world faces a climate change that is correlated with CO2 emissions by humankind, and scientists

from different fields are constantly working on methods to use or capture this released CO2. Carbon dioxide

is the holy grail for a C1 building block due to its low toxicity, cost, and abundance. Enlighted by this several

groups have reported catalytic procedures to convert aryl electrophiles into the corresponding carboxylic

acid. A general overview of these procedures will be in-depth covered, detailing the main advantages and

limitations of each methodology. Finally, the main opportunities for further innovation in this field will be

listed and discussed.
