Resumo

Niobium is a metal that has many applications in different areas of work, although the use of niobium compounds as Lewis acid in the field of Organic Chemistry has been increasing over the years. Niobium pentachloride is the main compound used as a catalyst in synthesis reactions. However, other compounds, such as niobium oxide and niobium phosphate, are emerging as another niobium catalyst to those reactions. This article presents the use of niobium catalysts beyond pentachloride in the field of Organic Chemistry in the last ten years.
