Synthesis and bioactivity screening of dihydroisoxazoles derived from eugenol

Novel dihydroisoxazoles (4a-d) derived from eugenol were synthesized in good yields, and their antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activities were evaluated. All synthesized heterocycles were characterized using spectral and elemental analyses. All compounds were tested against six standard ATCC bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris and Proteus mirabilis. The most active compound exhibited antibacterial activity against E. coli (73 ?g.mL-1) and S. aureus (54 ?g.mL-1). However, none of the compounds showed activity against the strains of fungus (Candida albicans, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis and Aspergillus fumigatus) assayed. All synthesized heterocycles presented better results as an antioxidant than the reference (trolox).Publicado
